Alert Corona, IEM Katowice 2020 Goes Without Audience

Entering the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice 2020 playoff, bad news came with certainty that there were no spectators even though the match was taking place. The decision was taken from concerns about the impact of Corona from the governor of Silesia (Katowice is included in the Silesia region). Even so IEM Katowice is still running and is still being broadcast online and television.

Until now, Poland has still not found a single Corona case. Previously, ESL as organizer had made prevention efforts by conducting health checks for each spectator to the Spodek Arena (IEM Katowice venue). If there are viewers who have a high fever, it is not allowed to enter.

What about the audience who already ordered tickets? ESL gives a ticket refund in full and will be given the requirements to submit a refund within the next few days. If there is a goodie bag on the ticket, ESL also sends it for free.

The IEM Katowice playoff will start on Friday (28/2). The first match brought Fnatic against 100 Thieves, CS: GO from Australia. In addition there is Natus Vincere who faces Team Liquid. The winners of both matches will be awaited by Astralis and G2 who won the semifinal place.

IEM Katowice won a total prize of US $ 500 thousand. This tournament also became one of the Intel Grand Slam tournaments, which gave the team an additional US $ 1 million prize if they won 4 Intel Grand Slam tournaments.
